Reza Moridi
Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister Of Research And Innovation
An award-winning scientist, engineer, educator, business leader and community activist who has lived in Richmond Hill since 1991, Reza Moridi was elected to the Ontario Legislative Assembly in 2007.
Upon his election, Reza was appointed by Premier Dalton McGuinty as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities. He was also appointed to the Cabinet Committee on Economy, Environment and Resources Policy.
Currently, Reza is the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Research and Innovation.
Prior to his election, Reza was the Vice-President and Chief Scientist of the Radiation Safety Institute of Canada.
Reza was a senior business executive in the electrical industry. In this capacity, he travelled internationally and met with senior executives of the leading corporations.
Reza has also worked as a professor and administrator in academia for a number of years.
His work has been recognized with two prestigious awards, including one from the Canadian Nuclear Society for his work in promoting radiation protection and safety issues. He also received an award from the Health Physics Society in the US for his contributions to Health Physics.
Educated in the UK, Reza obtained a PhD from Brunel University. He has completed CANDU Reactor, Industrial Management and Reactor Health Physics and courses.
He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Institute of Physics and Health Physics Society.
