We receive numerous e-mails and letters every week. Every letter and message is read and reviewed carefully. If your message requires an answer, we will get back to you as soon as possible.

To give you the best answer possible, your message may be shared with an appropriate government official for more information.

Personal Information and Privacy Protection

When you send a message through our website, your privacy is protected.

If our reply to your e-mail contains personal information, the government's privacy laws require that it is sent by regular mail.

Here are some examples of personal information:

• Any identifying numbers such as a social insurance number (SIN) or a health card number (OHIP)
• Your financial history
• Your medical history
• Your psychiatric history

Confidentiality and Security

Any personal information you provide is secure while in our custody.

The government uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to protect your information. This high-level type of security keeps information safe while it's being sent over the Internet.

All information that is kept in a database is protected through encryption or with a password. We also use virus scanners and firewalls to prevent unauthorized access to information. Only authorized personnel can access this information.

If you contact us, you will not be put on any mailing lists.
