Using technology to improve safety at nuclear power facilities
Provincial Funding: $106,313
With nuclear power use on the rise, nuclear safety is a growing issue. Current safety analysis uses analytical models and computer codes to predict a plant’s response to hypothetical accident scenarios. Research being conducted by Dr. David Novog at McMaster University aims to improve on the current prediction methods by constructing new models based on a unique measurement system, the phase-doppler anemometer. His long-term goal is to improve safety in Ontario’s nuclear power facilities.
