About Sentinelle Medical

Sentinelle Medical Inc. is an Ontario company offering breakthrough magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology. Thanks to president and co-founder Cameron Piron’s innovation and leadership, the company is changing the delivery of breast healthcare in North America, and is establishing Ontario as a key location for diagnostic imaging research and development.

Although MRI technology is known to have high accuracy in tissue differentiation and allows images to be acquired in any orientation, healthcare facilities have been reluctant in adopting it for breast cancer diagnosis and intervention. Not only is MRI relatively expensive compared to mammograms, it is not widely available for breast imaging.

Sentinelle Medical has designed and developed a fully integrated breast imaging system designed to improve workflow in the MRI suite, enabling more patients to be seen while maintaining high quality patient care.

Sentinelle’s technology is dedicated to providing physicians and other health care providers the tools to assist in quickly and accurately diagnosing or ruling out breast cancer. As well, it promises patients here in Ontario and around the world the possibility of scanning and disease detection in one visit – saving precious time in treating a disease where time is of the essence for successful outcomes.

Cameron Piron received the Premier’s Catalyst Award for Best Young Innovator in 2008. Since then, Cameron and Sentinelle have gone on to win six more prestigious awards. These include Cameron being named R&D Magazine’s Innovator of the Year – the first Canadian ever to win this award.

These awards have been accompanied by commercial success. Following years of product development and marketing, Sentinelle turned a corner in 2007 and has been enjoying exponential growth ever since. The company grew from 25 in June 2007 to more than 110 today and is continuing to expand. Meanwhile, to house the growing operations it has now moved into a 30,000-sq.-ft. state of the art facility in downtown Toronto.
