INTERNATIONAL STRATEGIC OPPORTUNITIES PROGRAM (ISOP)

The International Strategic Opportunities Program (ISOP) is a five-year program providing funding for new strategic international collaborations between Ontario research institutions and the global research community. The program aims to:

  • Facilitate research of scientific importance
  • Increase Ontario's long-term economic potential
  • Attract and retain top international research talent
  • Enhance Ontario's profile in the international research community
  • Achieve its objectives through sound project management, budgeting and planning.

The program is open to Ontario universities, affiliated research and teaching hospitals, colleges and not-for-profit organizations. Companies can also participate, but cannot be the lead organization.

ISOP funding also supports activities related to managing a strategic international research project. Eligible program activities include consortia project management, missions to develop or expand research links, travel, research exchange programs, international workshops and meetings, and publishing proceedings. The program will provide successful applicants with up to $150,000 per project over three years. (See program guidelines here)
