ONTARIO CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE
The Government of Ontario established the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) program to strengthen research linkages between academia and industry.
OCE's networks help to bridge the gap between research and the marketplace -- bringing universities, industry and government together to help in the application of new science and technology to successful business endeavors.
The program currently consists of five Centres:
- Centre of Excellence for Communications and Information Technology
- Centre of Excellence for Earth and Environmental Technologies
- Centre of Excellence for Energy
- Centre of Excellence for Materials and Manufacturing
- Centre of Excellence for Photonics
Objectives:
The Ontario Centres of Excellence program promotes the economic development of Ontario through:
- directed research;
- commercialization of new technology; and,
- training and development of highly qualified personnel.
