INTERNATIONAL STRATEGIC OPPORTUNITIES PROGRAM APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
APPLICATION FOR FUNDING
Applicants for the International Strategic Opportunities Program (ISOP) must follow the outline below. For further detail, please refer to relevant sections of the ISOP Program Guidelines.
APPLICATION PACKAGE
The application package consists of:
- A completed application form which has been signed by an officer of the organization with the authority to legally bind the organization
- Letter(s) of support/participation from each funding partner (both cash and in-kind contributions) of the international collaboration
- Letter of support from an independent source that addresses the project's ability to facilitate excellent research of scientific importance. This should come from an organization that will not receive any direct benefit from the research project or its results.
- A completed project budget in the form of an "Annual Project Budget"
APPLICATION COPIES
- Submit eight hardcopies of the completed application package and one electronic copy on CD-ROM (in MS Word/Excel formats).
- Applications should be three-hole punched and not be bound or stapled. Please use clips to hold copies together.
GENERAL FORMAT
- The application should be printed, single sided, on 8 1/2" x 11" white paper.
- Print must be in black and of letter quality.
- Text must be single-spaced, with no more than six lines per inch. Margins must be at least 1-inch.
- 11 point font must be used. Condensed type is not acceptable.
PREPARING APPLICATIONS
- In preparing the application, fill in the template tables where provided in the application form.
- Observe all restrictions on the amount of information indicated in the relevant sections of the application form.
- Use clear language and avoid technical jargon.
SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS
- Applications will be accepted on an on-going basis.
- Completed application forms will be reviewed by an internal government committee on a quarterly basis.
- A fax copy of the application will not be accepted in place of the original.

COMMUNICATIONS
- To ensure continuity, consistency and open communication between the applicant and ISOP program staff, all inquiries/discussions during the application, review and post-award processes are to be coordinated by the lead institution's named contact and the assigned ISOP program staff member.
